Freeing the Paradise Bird  AD 2009
Oil on Canvas 116 x 88 cm
To open the Doors of Perception is to see the world in its full splendour. Those whom the Gods
favour with this divine gift will sit down stunned and speechless, aware that they have stumbled
on a source of pure happiness which may even hold the key to Life Eternal. One setback, though
only limited to the confines of time and space, is a sandstorm that begins to brew above the
distant town. This is the third image out of eight which tell, step by step, a fanciful story of how
to find ways through the labyrinth of life and finally arrive at a state of mind called commonly,
and rather vaguely, Enlightenment. The tale is based on a series of eight pen-and-ink drawings
called
The travelling Circus.
